Yunlin county government is pressing ahead with livestock waste recycling. In Taiwan, 7 of 13 biogas power plants are located in Yunlin, these power plants can treat 1,190 tons of wastewater and generate 12,418.8 kWh of electricity through anaerobic fermentation and biogas power generation system per day. As a byproduct, biogas and post-digestion matter can be used as eco-friendly fertilizer in agriculture. This could reduce the annual use of chemical fertilizer up to 56,000 packages, also prevents 1,615,000 tons of livestock wastewater discharge into rivers, and fertilize area can reach 1,166.5 hectares.
